The Utility of TEL on TELx
TEL is the foundational asset of the Telcoin Platform and the economic backbone of TELx. Its utility spans multiple layers of the ecosystem: powering liquidity, enabling governance, rewarding productive participation, and serving as a core medium of exchange across decentralized markets. TELx is designed so that TEL’s value is tied directly to real on-chain activity: liquidity provisioning, swaps, rewards, and user-driven decision-making. As TELx expands across Polygon, Base, and Ethereum, TEL remains the connective asset that aligns user incentives with protocol growth and long-term sustainability.
TEL’s utility can be understood through six key categories: Medium of Exchange, Reserve Asset, Protocol & Work Token, Access / User-Ownership, Economic Alignment, and Governance. Together, these categories describe how TEL functions today and how it will continue to evolve as TELx governance and liquidity deepens.
Medium of Exchange
TEL acts as a liquid medium of exchange within TELx’s AMM-based markets. Its liquidity depth directly influences swap efficiency. Deeper TEL reserves reduce slippage and improve execution for users trading across TELx pools. This makes TEL a practical, cost-efficient asset for transacting within the Telcoin ecosystem.
Reserve Asset
TEL serves as a decentralized reserve asset across TELx liquidity pools. Users supply TEL to AMMs, strengthening market depth and earning fees and rewards in return. As TELx grows, TEL’s reserve role may expand into additional functions such as collateralization or insurance mechanisms, reinforcing its position as a core liquidity asset.
Protocol & Work Token
TEL is the native protocol token of the Telcoin Platform and the asset that powers TELx’s reward system. Liquidity providers who supply in-range, subscribed liquidity perform essential economic “work” for the protocol — and Merkl distributes TEL rewards based on verifiable proofs of that contribution. TEL also underpins protocol-level functions such as issuance, fees, and reward distribution.
TEL’s role as a protocol token also extends into governance. TEL holders participate in TELxIP voting, shaping how pools evolve, how rewards are allocated, and how the protocol upgrades over time. This governance layer ensures that TEL holders directly influence the future of TELx and the broader Telcoin ecosystem.
Access / User-Ownership
TEL acts as an access token that unlocks participation across TELx products and governance processes. Holding and using TEL allows users to engage with liquidity pools, earn rewards, vote on TELxIPs, and interact with decentralized applications built on Telcoin infrastructure. TEL is the key that enables user-owned liquidity and user-owned decision-making.
Economic Alignment
TEL is designed to align user incentives with protocol growth. Liquidity providers earn TEL for supplying depth and stability to markets, traders benefit from efficient TEL-denominated liquidity, and governance participants use TEL to shape the system’s evolution. Value generated through swaps, fees, and liquidity activity flows back to TEL holders through rewards and governance influence. This creates a circular, self-reinforcing economic model where TEL’s utility and value are directly connected to real usage across the ecosystem.
Governance
TEL is the governance asset of TELx. Holders participate in TELxIP voting, giving them direct influence over how the protocol evolves — including pool deployments, reward configurations, parameter changes, and future upgrades. Governance ensures that TELx remains user-owned and community-directed, with TEL holders shaping the system’s priorities, incentives, and long-term direction. As TELx expands, governance becomes increasingly central to how the ecosystem grows, making TEL not just a functional asset, but a decision-making one.
